Event Highlight: The Institute Attends International Healthcare Simulation Conference

Several faculty and staff members of the Institute for Simulation and Interprofessional Studies attended the annual International Meeting for Simulation in Healthcare (IMSH) from January 10th-15th.  The event was held in New Orleans, Louisiana, and hosted over 2,000 healthcare simulation professionals from around the globe. 

Experts from the Institute gave presentations and facilitated workshops at the conference, including:

-Simopoly: Improving Simulation Center Operations Through a Tabletop Simulation Exercises
-Dialogue Speed Sim: Immersive Experiences with Handling Conflicts
-Low-Cost Team Training Toolkit: An Interactive Workshop for Teaching the Basics of Team Communication
-Collecting and Reporting Essential Administrative Program Metrics
-Hands-On Hand-Off: The Tinker Telephone: An Interactive Workshop
-Erasing Tribalism in the Operating Room: Strategies and Techniques for Diffusing Tension among the Professions 

The conference addressed a variety of areas within the field of healthcare simulation, such as assessment, curriculum development, faculty development, program administration, simulation-based research, and technical operations.

The Institute will strive to apply the lessons learned at IMSH in order to continue improving its service to students, providers, faculty, and researchers.
